International Fellowship of International Students
There are over 154 countries in which Christian Unions meet on university campuses and colleges with the aim “to see students built into communities of disciples, transformed by the gospel impacting the university, the church and society for the glory of Christ.”
As part of the work of Christian Unions in universities we have lots of support. There are groups of graduates who meet to pray specifically for Queen’s CU every month for over 40 years. If you would like to find out more about this group or even if you would like to go along and support the work of the Christian Unions please contact email@example.com for more details.
Students are at the heart of IFES ministry. They want to nurture and train students as living stones, equipped to creatively engage the university and to shape society. Their vision is to see students built into communities of disciples, transformed by the gospel impacting the university, the church and society for the glory of Christ.
Students join local Christian groups that are part of autonomous, indigenous, national movements National movements are part of the worldwide community that is the International Fellowship of Evangelical Students (IFES). Currently about 500,000 students in over 150 countries are part of this global community.
Queens CU is affiliated with the local movement who work on 29 campuses across Ireland. Christian Unions exist to see students grow in their understanding and faith and to give every student on campus the opportunity to hear and respond to Christ. Watch this video below to see how we started and what you could be apart of:
The IFES family is blessed with staff at various levels – national, regional and international, full- and part-time, paid and volunteer – who are dedicated to discipling students and growing leaders. The product of their ministry is faithful Christian students who are equipped to shape the university, the church and society with the gospel.
The CU also has a staff worker dedicated to help us grow and be equipped. Our worker is Rachel Greer and she is more than happy to support you in anyway possible. Please contact her at firstname.lastname@example.org or visit ifesireland.org for more information.
Relay – What is it all about?
Relay is a national discipleship and training year for graduates who love CUs.
Relay provides graduates with a unique opportunity to work alongside the Christian Union whilst learning loads and deepening their faith in Jesus. Relay is all about helping people love and serve Jesus with their heart, mind and hands whoever they are and wherever he has called them to be.
Relay workers are supervised by a Christian Union Staff Worker through one- to-one bible studies and prayer, ministry direction and feedback, and discipleship towards establishing a strong relationship with Jesus. Relay workers are part of the wider IFES Ireland team that benefits from further training and fellowship together as they work with CUs in their area.
Over the course of the year, Relay workers attend three specifically designed training conferences alongside UCCF Relay workers in the UK for bible teaching, worship and prayer. These are key times of learning in community and are a great chance to build friendships with other Relay workers. Relay also provides a weekly personal study programme focusing on key doctrines in the Christian faith, together with an elective study on a subject tailored to help each worker grow in their particular interests and gifts.

We at Queens have several students on the Relay program. Christy Reid and Duncan Lannon both went to work with IFES Ireland to give every student in Ireland an opportunity to hear and respond to the gospel. The Christian Unions, which make up IFES Ireland, work as mission teams in universities throughout the island, seeking to be bold witnesses and a source of fellowship and discipleship for Christian students. Both Christy and Duncan would very much value your prayers and thoughts over the next year as they seek to serve the Lord. Please click on the images below to see a more personal note from them.
